Description

The Health Training, ‘A Healthy Start’, Toolbox can support a range of qualifications from the Health (HLT02) Training Package. This Toolbox covers the five elements of competence (and associated Performance Criteria) from the unit HLTHIR1A, Work effectively in the Health Industry. It offers a range of learning pathways, activities and resources to support learners in gaining competency.

This Toolbox covers the introductory skills and knowledge required to work effectively in a healthcare setting with patients, clients, staff, visitors, suppliers and others to meet established work requirements.

The Toolbox is set in the fictional Sunset Bay Health Campus. The home page introduces the learner to an interface that allows them to navigate between five sectors of the Health Campus with each sector addressing an element of competency, as follows:

  1. General Wards
    Supports the element HLTHIR1A/01 – Work ethically
  2. Emergency Department
    Supports the element HLTHIR1A/02 – Demonstrate the importance of hygiene and infection control in the health industry
  3. Nursing Home
    Supports the element HLTHIR1A/03 – Participate in quality improvement activities
  4. Kitchen
    Supports the element HLTHIR1A/04 – Take responsibility for personal skill development
  5. Dental Clinic
    Supports the element HLTHIR1A/05 – Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients

Work will be within a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures with some accountability for the quality of outcomes. The workplace context may be a specific community, community or regional service, department of a large institution or organisation, or specialised service or organisation.
