Description

The learner is immersed in the workplace metaphor of Jirrahlee Botanic Garden. This garden is open year-around for the public to visit to enjoy the wide variety of plants, landscaping and water features. The online learner plays the role of a member of garden staff that oversees the day-to-day running, maintenance and management of the site. The structure of the garden supports authentic learning in a variety of irrigation activities. Similarly, the diversity of plant species facilitates a range of learning activities in the plants, pests and diseases, and garden design units. All units include an awareness of environmental implications and occupational health and safety (OHS) issues.
