Description
The Maritime Toolbox takes an activity and problem-based approach to learning. The Toolbox supports the delivery of 20 units of competency from TDM20101 – Certificate II in Transport and Distribution (Maritime Operations). Eight of these are the pre-sea entry-level competencies. These eight competencies are common across Certificate I to Advanced Diploma. The other eleven competencies have been selected from the Maritime deck operations competency standards.
Learning tools and activities are provided for the learners to develop their skills and underpinning knowledge. The activities also provide an opportunity for the learner to assess and check their knowledge and understanding, conduct research and interact with other learners and their facilitator/teacher.
Learners take on the role of trainee at Pete’s Marina where they are required to complete a range of jobs related to each unit of competency. Learning occurs through participation in real-life scenarios and tasks covering a range of maritime operations and situations.
