Description
"Like it or not, when it comes to rewarding its employees, STAR is a pretty lousy payer. Or at least that's what many of our employees think..." So goes the learner's introduction to one of their projects in STAR Industries, the Human Resources Toolbox case study organisation. Taking on the role of GM of Human Resources, learners complete up to nine projects for the Diploma of Business (Human Resources).
The HR Toolbox integrates reusable learning objects with a rich case study
in a stimulating and challenging online learning environment. Learners are
given clear pathways for completing practical tasks using either the case
study or their own workplaces, and an index of learning objects provides learners
with a practical research tool.
The Toolbox was trialled prior to release, and learners and trainer reported
positive educational outcomes:
"I thoroughly enjoyed it. I learnt about a strategic point of view, which is appropriate for the level it is aimed at - you can only really appreciate that when you have completed the course." (student)
"It was definitely worthwhile. I walked away with some practical ideas for my own workplace." (student)
"In the main all the students enjoyed the experience and came back with very positive comments. They learned a lot about their own workplaces and how they could improve things." (trainer)
