Description
This online literacy and numeracy learning resource, set in a fictitious training centre, is for trainers or assessors working with adult learners participating in training programs at AQF level II. It provides resources and activities to assist them develop their own skills in supporting learners with literacy and numeracy needs. It can be used in two ways:
- As a problem-based professional development course. Participants can work through one or both of the two learning paths (Training Package programs or Bridging programs).
- As a set of resources. Trainers and assessors can access the resources they need, when they need them, in the Staff room.
The supporting resources in this product are aimed at AQF level II. However, most of the principles and strategies may be used more broadly. This Toolbox is not based on a particular curriculum. The resources in this product include activities, teaching strategies, relevant web links and virtual expert trainers.
Competencies
This Toolbox provides online professional development programs and associated resources for lecturers, trainers or assessors supporting learners with literacy and numeracy needs in the VET sector at AQF level II. It will be suitable for providing an online professional development program for:
- Lecturers/trainers/assessors specifically involved in delivering literacy or numeracy training in a VET access or bridging program.
- Lecturers/trainers/assessors involved in delivering Training Packages in the VET sector.
The Toolbox may also be used as a lecturer's/trainer's resource centre for accessing web sites, activities or strategies on supporting learners with literacy and numeracy needs.
