Description
This Toolbox is based around a virtual laboratory called SimuLab. Learning is situated in an authentic context, with students placed in the role of trainee laboratory technicians whose role is to collect field samples and conduct tests on them. Students are presented with a graphical environment with doors leading to various part of the laboratory. They select a unit and work through a number of guided exploration and problem solving activities which culminate in an assessment activity.
Students engage in activities that require them to use information, characters, forms, and equipment available within the laboratory setting. Within the workplace the learner can ask questions of various personnel, visit laboratories, and access manuals and a range of information.
