Description

The Networker’s Patch Panel covers 16 competency units from the Diploma of Information Technology (Network Engineering), including nearly all of the core competencies. Learners work through a series of projects that involve such things as designing network project plans, system infrastructure plans, and network communications and security, as well as building and managing a complex network and an intranet with Internet connectivity.

The learning approach adopted is "problem-based" – for each project learners are provided with a brief which summarises its purpose and requirements, and they access learning resources of various types on a "need to know" basis in the context of their project work. These resources include websites, specially developed screen-based tutorials, and networking tools and templates that can be downloaded.

The Networker’s Patch Panel also provides communications facilities that are easy to use and convenient. These provide a mechanism to promote interaction between learners, and between learners and their teachers and mentors.
