Description
View Version Improvements
The Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Toolbox includes 19 learning units covering nine units of competency from the Community Services Training Package CHC02.
The resources for each unit of competency can be found in one of the buildings within a graphical village. Each of the nine competencies is made up of:
- learning units which contain information about particular aspects of the AOD sector
- learning activities to allow you to further develop skills and knowledge
- case studies of people within the sector (found in the workplace building)
- library resources to assist your studies, including articles, recommended reading and suggested websites (found in the library building)
- points of view of people who work in the AOD sector and other contributors who have an interest in AOD issues (found in the workplace building)
- discussion starters specific to the learning unit you are studying.

Version Improvements
This Toolbox is a revision (Version 2) of the original. The following is a list of improvements made to this version.
Technical
- The entry into the Toolbox has been streamlined so that the index page is now the main menu page with links to secondary pages "Welcome", "Credits" and "System Requirements". This has removed the major concern of the system crashing when the System Page is loaded.
- The existing village metaphor and directory structure has been rationalised, and navigation has been improved for learner orientation. First time users of the Toolbox are now given clearer directions on how to access the Learning Units with the addition of the text "Go to the Learning Centre to work through the required Learning Units."
Educational
- Competency units updated to the current Community Services Training Package CHC02 with new content and activities.
- Updated Teacher’s Guide and Learners Guide. The competency task matrix has been updated.
