Licensing conditions
What are the licensing conditions of the Toolbox?
The full details of the licensing conditions are shown in the booklet which accompanies the CD-ROM. The licensee is the purchaser of the Toolbox and the licensor/copyright owner is the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST). The license allows the user to reproduce materials contained in the Toolbox, including mounting them on a secure website and Intranet and offering them to students worldwide.
Does the licence allow the purchaser to customise and enhance the Toolbox resources?
The license permits users to enhance and customise the materials for use with their own students without requiring permission from the licensor. The original licensor must be acknowledged. Please note some earlier Toolboxes were produced under the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA). Please contact the Toolbox Help desk for copyright advice. The copyright in the enhancement is consolidated in the original license.
Enhanced Toolbox material cannot be sold to others by a licensee without permission from the copyright owner, DEST (Branch Manager, Technology and Information Services Branch, Industry Skills Development Group, Department of Education, Science and Training, GPO Box 9880 Canberra City, ACT, 2601). However supplementary material can be created, licensed and commercially exploited separately.
How long will the Toolbox remain relevant?
The Toolbox supports the online delivery of training for one or more qualifications in the endorsed Training Package nominated on the CD-ROM and the accompanying mail-pack. The Training Package and qualifications are current until the agreed review date. The material can be used within the scope of this license in perpetuity.
RTOs using the Toolbox are advised to review the materials in the light of changes to the endorsed qualifications and the competencies. If the Training Package is no longer current much of the Toolbox material may remain useful, but providers will need to be alert to amendments and take the necessary action themselves (e.g. provide different/additional resources, or modify the Toolbox). These are intended to be growing resources which providers are encouraged to build on.
How do I purchase a Toolbox?
The Flexible Learning Toolboxes are available for purchase from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Australia. Most of the Toolboxes cost around $400. Please view the Purchase a Toolbox page for ordering.
