A scenario is a simulated activity in which you need to make choices as you work though the tasks. The scenario is made up of a series of scenes. In each scene you are presented with information about the situation, activities for you to complete and choices you need to make to move onto the next scene. In making these choices, you will need to think about what is happening in the scene and what an appropriate response would be.
Each scene that you visit in the scenarios begins with an introduction to what is happening in the scene. Many of the scenes will have an interactive activity for you to complete. The results of the activities will provide you with the information you need to make a choice to go on to the next scene.
In some scenes, you will be able to download one or more files that can be used to record the results of the scene activity. Make sure you save these files to your computer or a disk.
Many of the scenes also have a section called "Points to consider". This gives you some idea of the type of information you need to be aware of to successfully complete the activities and move on to the next scene. The section called "Tutorial hints" indicates the types of learning resources you should consult to make an appropriate choice.
At the end of a scene, you are presented with a number of choices that you can make to move to the next scene. Of the choices offered in each scene, there is only one that is appropriate to the scene. If you select one of the less appropriate choices you will be presented with the consequences of making that choice. You will also be given the option to re-assess your choices. This will allow you to return to the correct pathway through the scenario .
If you get "lost in a scenario" you can see which scenes you have visited by clicking on the "view" button on the bottom of the page. This will expand a list of all of the scenes you have visited in the current session .
You can use the scene selector on the left panel of the scenario window to bring up a list of scenes. Clicking on the title of one these scenes will take you directly to that scene. Please note that the scenes are not listed in the correct order in which you should progress through the scenario. The scene selector should not be used as a method of navigating through the scenario
You can also print the list of scenes you have visited as a record of what you have done.
If you want to start a new scenario or re-start the one you are currently in from the beginning, click on the Scenarios button at the top of the left panel on the screen. This will take you to the list of scenarios in the competency you are working with. You can click on the competency screen link at the top of the window to select a new competency .
