Troubleshooting

:: Browser issues

:: The page won't fit on my screen

First, make sure your monitor is set to 800 x 600 or more. If this does not fix the problem, you may need to change some of the settings in your web browser.

:: I'm having problems printing

Wherever possible, use the Print button on the web page rather than the print button on your browser toolbar.

In the activities open the text version and then click the Print button on that page.

:: Javascript is not turned on

Follow these steps. If you're in a large organisation you may need to ask your IT support staff to do this for you.

Internet Explorer 6

Netscape 6.2

Netscape 7

Firefox

:: The text is too small

You might need to adjust your monitor setting so it's easier to read. To do this:

If you are using Firefox you can enlarge the font size by pressing "Ctrl +" in your keyboard. In a Macintosh use "Apple +"

:: When I click on some links a pop-up warning appears

When clicking on some links on the toolbox you may get this message:

Pop-up blocked. To see this pop-up or additional options click here...

In this case click on the message and select "Always Allow Pop-ups from This Site..." from the pop up menu. Then click "Yes". Internet Explorer will refresh the page so you will need to navigate back to where you were before.

:: Known Flash issues

:: I cannot see the Flash content

This could be due to a few reasons:

:: Flash is not installed

To run this toolbox you need at least version 7 of the Flash plug in. Go to www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/ to download it.

:: I'm having problems installing Flash Player

Sometimes, problems with a Flash Player that's already installed can prevent your upgrading to the latest player. If you have problems installing Flash, go to www.macromedia.com/support/flash/ts/documents/playerfaq.htm#fixall and follow the instructions on the screen.

:: Glossary links don't work from Flash

Some pop-up blockers will prevent Flash from opening the links to the glossary. Yahoo! toolbar is known to do this. If you have the Yahoo! toolbar installed please upgrade to the latest version.

:: When I try to access a page with Flash content a warning message appears

If you are viewing a Flash page using the Flash plug-in version 8 you may see this message:

"Macromedia Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation."

Macromedia Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation.

You will need to configure this content to be trusted in order to continue. To do this follow these steps.

First create a folder named "FlashPlayerTrust" on the following directories:

Windows all users:
<system>\Macromed\Flash\FlashPlayerTrust
(e.g. c:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashPlayerTrust)

Windows single user:
<app data>\Macromedia\Flash Player\#Security\FlashPlayerTrust
(e.g. c:\Documents and Settings\<User name>\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#Security\FlashPlayerTrust)

Mac OS all users:
<app support>/Macromedia/FlashPlayerTrust
(e.g. /Library/Application Support/Macromedia/FlashPlayerTrust)

Mac OS single user:
<app data>/Macromedia/Flash Player/#Security/FlashPlayerTrust (e.g. /Users/<User name>/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash
Player/#Security/FlashPlayerTrust)

After you created the folder you should create a cfg file that contains the path to the folder containing the resource, you can create the cfg file using the "Notepad"/"Textedit". In that file specify the path of the folder and save it using a your_custom_name.cfg (eg racing.cfg)

You must place the cfg file to the FlashPlayerTrust folder that you created.

Doing the steps above removes the Flash Player 8 Security dialog box.

:: I get a security warning when I open the Toolbox — it tells me to "click for options..."

If you are using Windows XP Service Pack 2, Internet Explorer may be set to block active content. In this case you will get a security warning about this. This security warning may appear only if you are viewing the Toolbox directly from a local drive (your hard disk, a network drive or a CD-ROM). If you are viewing via an http:// address (eg the Internet or your work intranet), you won’t have this problem.

When using a toolbox from a CD you may get this message:

Internet Explorer dialogue box

In this case click Yes to continue. If you clicked No you will need to change this setting manually, to do this see this section.

Or you may get this other message:
Internet Explorer dialogue box

If you do nothing you will not be able to access the audio and interactive sections of the Toolbox. To get full access to the Toolbox follow these steps.

In Internet Explorer 6:

You will need to do this each time you start the Toolbox from your drive or you can disable this permanently. See below.

Disable active content blocking permanently

To do this follow this steps:

Internet Explorer internet options menu

When trying to access Word documents from Flash an "Action cancelled" page appears

There is a known bug with Internet Explorer and SP2 when trying to open a pop-up window from Flash.

In this case refresh the opened page.
