:: Participate in safety meeting
Now you should be ready to do your own workplace survey.
Working with animals is always potentially dangerous. In addition we have to lift and carry heavy loads; use electrical and mechanical equipment; administer and apply chemicals. This makes the workplace even more dangerous.
It is important that you can recognise potential hazards and that you can think of ways to reduce or avoid the risk of injury or illness.
Use the assignment worksheet to gather evidence of potential hazards and hazards that have been well managed.
When you have done this, you will be ready to move onto the next task.
If you need help understanding what to do, ask your boss or your course facilitator.
Successful completion of the assignment will provide evidence of your knowledge in elements of the following units of competency:
RGRH206A Apply Occupational Health and Safety Procedures in Horse Codes
RGRH207A Handle Horses Safely
RGRG205A Apply Occupational Health & Safety Procedures in Greyhound codes
RGRG206A Handle Greyhounds Safely
Once you have successfully completed the assignment you will be ready to move on to the next task in this job. Look at the other tasks you will have to do related to workplace health and safety.
Demonstrate how to lift and move a variety of objects including bales of hay, bags of feed, by yourself with someone else.
Demonstrate how to safely use a wheel barrow stable/kennel cleaning equipment.
After you have finished the assignment, select a new task to continue.
