Clean linen should be:

• transported, handled and stored separately from soiled linen to reduce any risk of cross-contamination
• distributed on clean covered trolleys to avoid contamination from airborne contaminants and moisture
• handled by staff who have used proper hand washing procedures
• delivered to clinical areas daily on a clean, covered trolley, which is washed daily or more often if required.

It is important to not place clean linen on potentially contaminated surfaces.
