To complete this course, you need to have the following materials
and equipment:

Your computer system should meet the following minimum requirements:
IBM compatible computer, 300 MHz processor
64 MB of SDRAM
Microsoft® Windows® 95, 98 or 2000
800 x 600 display (1024 x 768 recommended)
50 MB of hard disk free
1.44 MB floppy disk
CD ROM drive
Sound card and speakers (recommended)
56k modem or higher configuration
A valid e-mail address
or Macintosh equivalent.
You will also need a word processing program, such as Microsoft®
Word 97 (or higher), and a spread sheet program, such as Microsoft® Excel 2000.
If you don't have Microsoft® Word or Microsoft® Excel on your computer, you might
find it useful to download the free Microsoft®
Word Viewer.
You will find it useful to have access to a printer (although
you don't need to have one to be able to complete the course).
If you have any questions about your computer system, contact your online facilitator.

You will also need an Internet browser and some software called
plug-ins. Plug-ins work with your Internet browser to make the interactive
sections of the course work. If you don't already have the plug-ins
listed below, you can download them for free by clicking on the
links and following the instructions.
Note: It may take a while to download these plug-ins, so you can always come back later if you don't have time to download them now.
You need:
- Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5 or higher or
Netscape® 4.7
(Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5 recommended)
- Macromedia® Flash Player
(You may have already downloaded this plug-in before you
began.)
Note: You must have version 6 or above, as
lower versions will not work correctly
- Adobe®
Acrobat® Reader

Note: You must have version 5 or above, as lower
versions will not work correctly.

If you are not sure whether you have these plug-ins, or if you have any problems
downloading them, contact your online facilitator.
You should also ensure that you have javascript enabled in your browser.

Please note:
If your screen resolution is set to 800 x 600, we recommend you set the following preferences in your browser, for better viewing of this toolbox.
- Internet Explorer :
- Select View > Toolbars > Customise and click "reset" (sets the default toolbar layout).
- You may also like to turn off the staus bar by selecting View > Status Bar (there should not be a tick next to this item).
- Netscape 4.7 :
You should hide either the Personal toolbar or the turn off the labels under the toolbar icons or both.
- To turn the Personal toolbar off, select View > Show > Personal toolbar.
- To hide the icon labels select Edit > Preferences > Appearance and select "Show pictures as > icons only".
- Netscape 6.2 : You should hide either the status bar or the Personal toolbar or both.
- To turn the Status bar off, select View > Show/Hide > Status bar.
- To turn the Personal toolbar off, select View > Show/Hide > Personal toolbar.
