What are some different ways that organisations analyse and evaluate work/life needs?

Use these - or other websites you find - to do your research.

www.eeo.nsw.gov.au - Click on the link for 'All Employees' and then select 'Flexible work practices.' Then click on 'Issues for non-English Speaking Background Employees.' It is important to take these issues into consideration in analysing the specific needs of your workplace.

Also click on the link for 'All Employees' and then select 'Flexible work practices.' Then click on 'Case Study - Attorney General's Department' and read the document entitle 'Advancing Flexibility'. Section 1 will help you with the issue of analysing the work/life needs of an organisation.

www.eowa.gov.au - Under Hot Topics for Employers click on the link to 'Work Life and Family Balance' which contain informative case studies and policy documents. The Family Friendly Initiatives at World Vision tells how they were able to implement programs that had a significant impact and yet cost very little to implement.

www.flexibility.com.au - Go to this website and click on the link to 'Newsletter' and then go to 'Issue 3' and read the interview with Bob Joss, former CEO of Westpac Banking Corporation entitled 'CEO, Bob Joss, on the Flexible Workplace. Then read the article on 'Work/Life Balance - an Issue of Leadership.' Then go to Issue Six and read the interview with Kevin Cass-Ryall entitled 'Executive Director, Kevin Cass-Ryall on Creating a Flexible Workplace.' Then go to Issue Two and read the article entitled 'Getting Top Level Support for Diversity Initiatives'.

www.records.nsw.gov.au - Do a search for Managing the skills project. You will find many links of interest here that cover all elements of planning a project.

www.workplace.gov.au - Search for 2002 ACCI National Work and Family Awards and then click on the link to 'winning workplaces' and read about Westpac Banking Corporation's summary of initiatives and the outcomes these have had for both the company and employees.

This site also has a wealth of information about flexible work practices - what they are, how to evaluate them and how to implement them. Click on the link to 'Work and Family' and then go to the links on 'Workplaces' where you will find information on how to evaluate your organisation, costing potential initiatives, using surveys, etc.
