The High Court of Australia
The High Court is the highest court in Australia and is the final
court of appeal for decisions relating to native title from other
courts. This process of appeal resulted in the High Court's decisions
in Mabo and Wik. The lower courts cannot override or change decisions
of the High Court.
It can take a long time for matters to be decided by the High
Court as matters can only be referred to the High Court after they
have been considered by lower courts.
