Understanding testing

Aim:
To understand the importance of testing multimedia products.

Objective:
The focus of this resource is on usability testing rather than technical testing; the latter is more an issue for information technology courses and competencies. However, technical testing is dealt with in detail in Brief 2.2.

The learner is introduced to the notion that multimedia design and construction on one hand and testing on the other are interrelated processes. Successful 'user-centred design' relies on this connection being forged right through the design/construction phases.

The learner is required to identify four other products where user-centred design is essential, and evaluate their user effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction.
