Project Brief

You will be required to conduct two multimedia product tests. At certain stages you will be working with your Buddy and Mentor.

You can select two web sites of your own choice. However, the selection must meet the following criteria:

a) The web sites must be Australian.

b) The web sites must be business or organisation sites (not personal). This means that the business or organisation is clearly listed in the telephone book as a business or organisation.

c) The web sites must have different purposes eg one may be a site selling products (books) and the other an art gallery.

d) The web sites you choose must be approved by your trainer. With one site, you need to conduct a heuristic evaluation and with the other site, a user trial.

For each test approach, you will need to establish:

• the purpose of the site:
• the audience;
• the evaluating criteria;
• the questions
• a report mechanism; and
• the test participants

All of these items will be covered in SETs 6 and 7.

Then, with the help of your Buddy and Mentor, you will conduct the evaluation and tests. In the evaluation, you and the two mentors will be your Buddy's evaluating team (and vice versa). In the user trial, you and your buddy will find the user trial participants, and they will test both your and your buddy's sites. This process is covered in SETs 8 and 9.

You will then be expected to compile the results of your tests into two Reports: one from the evaluation and one from the user trial.
