Investigating electronic games: genres and adaptations

Aim:
To explore the relationship of electronic games to particular genres and how often they are adapted from other media forms.

Objective:
The issue of genre and adaptation in electronic game is important as it pre-determines the game playing paradigm. It both sets the parameters for the design of the game, and establishes for the user, familiar elements (procedures, rules, options, etc). The learner is expected to study 20 Internet-based games to establish genre and adaptation. They then, in collaboration with their partner, design a simple web based game.

Check:
1. The learner compiled a list of game genres 2. They analysed the 20 web-based games in reference to these genres. 3. They designed a simple web-based game with their partner.
