Social bookmarking

What is social bookmarking?

‘Bookmarking’ lets you save a list of your favourite websites. This makes it easier for you to return to the websites from any computer.

Before social bookmarking sites, you would have saved links to websites in your web browser (eg Internet Explorer®) under ‘Favourites’ or ‘Bookmarks’, using folders to categorise the bookmarks. The difference with social bookmarking is that your list of websites is saved at an online social bookmarking service. You can use ‘tags’ (or keywords) to categorise websites.
