Today, thanks to the success and widespread usage of such websites as YouTube, sounds and images are more than ever associated together. There is no denying the power of audio and visual when used in combination; if you get it right you could have a viral success on your hands. Before you start creating your own clip, check how simple some of the videos are on YouTube. Often, they can be accompanied by little more than a still image.
Prepare for your task by watching 10 music videos on YouTube. Note what their visual component is made up of. Try to gauge if the content was created by a fan or professional. Does the quality or content of the visuals affect your enjoyment of the music? Can you find any examples where you like the audio but not the visuals or vice versa? Search for some effective videos that use very simple visuals, either a single shot or still images.
Using the checklist in the Task workbook (.doc 130kB) will help you organise your work.
