Skills Recognition for the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

Skills Recognition (also referred to as Recognition of Prior Learning or RPL) provides you with the option to have your skills and knowledge on Training and Assessment to be recognised against the competencies of the Training Package. Under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF), competencies may be attained in a number of ways. This includes:

In order to grant you recognition of your skills, you will be required to provide evidence of and/or demonstrate your competence against the endorsed industry or enterprise competency standards, or the outcomes specified in the Australian Qualifications Framework accredited courses.

The evidence required may take a variety of forms, but may include:

To meet required standards for assessment under the AQTF, the assessor must ensure that the evidence is authentic, valid, reliable, current and sufficient.

If you think you may be eligible for Skills Recognition in this course, we recommend that you undertake a Self-Assessment to help determine your eligibility. On completing the Self-Assessment, you will also be able to save and/or print an individual learning plan that will identify any skill gaps that require training.

Here is a link to the Self-Assessment for all the units of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment that are available within this Toolbox resource. It will open with detailed instructions for you to follow.

You can also undertake a Self-Assessment for each individual unit of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment by following the Skills Recognition link on the unit's home page.
