Online Product Development, Review and Evaluation

Objectives

  • To promote the development of high quality online courseware (Toolbox Series 4) and other online products to support VET programs and services.
  • To conduct marketing and awareness raising activities aimed at increasing the take-up of Toolboxes.
  • To organise implementation workshops and other professional development activities to assist VET practitioners to use Toolbox products in flexible ways.
  • To commission an independent evaluation of the usage of Toolbox Series 2.
  • To promote effective linkages between the outcomes of this project and those of other AFL Framework projects.

Outcomes

  • Expanded range of high quality online courseware and other products available to VET providers.
  • Increased awareness of the availability of online courseware and other online products within the VET system.
  • Enhanced capacity of VET organisations to develop effective online teaching and learning resources.
  • Greater confidence and ability among VET personnel in using Toolboxes flexibly to support online teaching and learning.
  • Improved understanding of the factors which enhance or impede the take-up of online courseware.
  • Continuous improvement in online product development through dissemination of findings from the evaluation.
  • Close linkages between this project and other AFL Framework projects, including Flexible Learning Leaders, LearnScope, National and International e-VET Market Research and the Communication and Adoptions Program, to ensure effective integration of outcomes.

Funding

A total of $7.2 M has been allocated to this project in 2001.
The funds will cover the following aspects of the project:

  • project management
  • Toolbox and other product development
  • marketing/awareness raising
  • professional development
  • evaluation of usage of Series 2 Toolboxes

Funding Approach

  • Online product development - expressions of interest to be called for nationally with selective tender to follow. Steering Group or sub-committee to select.
  • Evaluation of Toolbox Series 2 usage - national tenders to be called for to appoint consultants. Steering Group or sub-committee to select.
  • Marketing, awareness raising and professional development - plans to be developed with the aim of recruiting former and current national project participants to support Toolbox awareness within their regions and networks.
